Silk fusion in Texas

Well, I have finally gotten SOMETHING done , creatively speaking. Anna and I went walking down at Pine Gully ( part of a long bird-watching/nature trail) and I probably broke a dozen laws and picked leaves for silk fusion. Unfortunately, we went grocery shopping before coming home and some of them got limp.

However, these Mimosa seedpods look great! I actually got a bit tooo fancy and made them with both halves joined (with the pods enclosed, then cut the pods out after my silk was dry). I don't think i'll do that again, as they ended up separate for the most part anyway. Now I need to look for the perfect 'peas' to go inside.

Theses are some of my leaves. The sweetgums got limp and the medium I used didn't release well from the leaves, so I have bits of leaf still stuck in the fusion. Liz likes them this way. I just keep seeing bits of dead leaf cluttering up my nice fusion. I did get some 'possum grape' leaves which did nicely. Oak leaves got too crunchy too quickly to use, so I'll have to go hunting for more.

Actually, I'm going up to Tennessee in a couple of weeks and told Mom that I'd bring my toys and play silk fusion there, since I"m trying to get my etsy shop up and going again, and she has a much greater variety of leaves than I do.
