Finished Things!

After talking to my mother yesterday, I realized that she was right and I truly didn't get many things finished. Like she's never said this before? Like I didn't know this?

So, inspired by the new quilter I met, I finished up things. All postcards right now, though "Year of the Dog III" has been put back on the top of the pile. It needs something but I don't know what...picture to follow.

This first postcard is an experiment with painted fusible. I think the green stripes are metallic fabric paint, then the fusible is torn into strips. The purple stripes are Shiva paintstiks rubbed directly onto fusible, then fusible torn. The cool thing is that enough fusible is still exposed that, after stitching the feather onto the card (layered with fine net on top), the whole thing pressed down flat when ironed. The feather isn't loose at all - which actually makes it less iridescent, but oh well.

These next two cards are made of hand-dyed fabric also. The trees are (obviously) part of my 'through trees' series. The blue and orange one just tickled me.

Anna drew the snail shape for the 'snail with flower'

I was given the marbled fabric for the butterfly by Marge Hurst in New Zealand, years ago, and finally cut it up.

I think the butterfly needs a few rhinestones, but then it wouldn't mail as well.

I like these postcards! Especially the blue ones.
